The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition headed to downtown Baton Rouge to assist with their own beautification project on Martin Luther King’s Day of Service.
BRYC painted over old, rundown buildings along Scenic Highway in Scotlandville at the old KFC building and a law office.
Picking up trash is one way to serve your community, but in this particular project, BRYC was focused on making Baton Rouge look more beautiful. Students in BRYC painted over the rusted buildings to have them look more presentable.
Lucas Spielfogel, the director of BRYC, does a project every year to commemorate Dr. King and his legacy. Every year it gets bigger and better.
Free lunch, music, games and entertainment were provided throughout the day to multiple organizations that participated in MLK’s Day of Service.
