The girls varsity soccer team started playoffs on February 2 with a (score)(win loss)(over to) Alexandria senior high. (game highlights)
The Lady Bulldogs finished with a record of nine wins, nine losses, and six ties. They played against teams like Mandeville, Dutchtown, Zachary, and Denham Springs.
They had a power ranking of 13.20 which ranked them 15th out of 40 teams in Division I.
They lost a district match to rival St Joseph’s Academy to finish as runner-up at 3-1 in Division I, District 3 . Their three district wins, over Denham Springs, Walker and Zachary, were all shutouts.
They had their Senior Night February 26 against Denham Springs and won 3-0. Senior CC Monett had a hat trick by scoring all three goals.
“For us, the season has been an uphill climb. I have numerous players who have helped out my team in a lot of different aspects, and my defenders have played a key role in our success,” said coach Shelia Achee.
The boys team finished with five wins, 15 losses, and four ties. They played against other Division I teams like Mandeville, Hammond, St.Amant, and Dutchtown. They lost to rival Catholic High 0-2, and tied McKinley 3-3 in their final game of the season, bringing their district record to 0-3-2.
The boys lost to Zachary for their senior night game on February 24 by a 1-2 score.. ___ scored the goal.
The boys had a power ranking of 8.63, which ranked them 39th out of 45 in their division.
Coach Richard Harsch said the boys were rebuilding after graduating 16 seniors from last year’s team.
” I was hoping to see a little more progress as the season went on, and I saw some, but I’m hoping for more from the guys returning next year. Hopefully they come back stronger and have a little more experience,” he said.
