As students start the second semester, one teacher is already finished with the school year, and with her career.
Civics and world geography teacher Frances Wheatley announced her retirement from BRHS at the faculty holiday luncheon in December. She is leaving the classroom to spend more time with her family as they deal with health-related issues.
At the annual teacher luncheon, Wheatley said, “I’ve enjoyed being part of the family here. I’m glad Mrs. McCann wants me to keep working with my clubs, so you’ll be seeing me around.”
Wheatley came to BRHS in 2001 and she has sponsored the mock trial team. She also started and sponsored the ballroom club.
She will continue to show her face around the school, as she continues to sponsor the Ballroom club.
Katherine Bankhead, junior and officer of the ballroom dance club said, “Mrs. Wheatley has always been a wonderful and thoughtful sponsor. She was always willing to help us with anything we needed, and she still is.”
Wheatley will be missed by all her students and faculty members.
