The Department of Choral Studies presented its Fall Choral Concert on October 17 drawing crowds of listeners to hear the BRHS Festival Singers and the bells of the Festival Ringers as students performed in their first concert of the school year.

The concert was held at University United Methodist Church. The first performance of the year showcased the Festival Ringers (Handbell Ringers), Concert Soloists, and Festival Singers.

“Everyone has put in so much work into this, and it’s nice to see it finally complete,” said senior and concert soloist Kim Tran. Tran performed the Broadway classic “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”

“We’ve been working on this since the beginning of the year. It just shows you how anyone can come together and make something so beautiful.”
The concert began with the Festival Ringers playing the “Star Spangled Banner.” Six soloists then performed personal favorites followed by the Festival Lyric Singers chorusing an acapella arrangement of “Beauty and the Beast.” The Festival Singers concluded the concert with classical, religious masterpieces that had the audience standing on their feet with applause.

The singers utilized the church’s space by not only performing on the stage but by surprising audience members from the back pews and church lobby.

“Working with these students is never a job,” said choral director Robbie Giroir as he addressed the crowd. “It’s not a job, it’s a position. It’s just a great joy.”

The annual Candlelight Christmas Choral Concert will be December 5 at 7:00 in the Cathedral Church of St. Joseph.
